Ariz. - At the completion of its regularly scheduled two-day meeting today, the Arizona Medical Board met in emergency session to summarily suspend the license of Richard Carino, M.D. Dr. Carino � Board certified in Family Practice and Pain Management � holds an Arizona license, but his practice is in Port Richey, Florida. He faces federal child pornography charges in that state.
During its June meeting, the Medical Board also revoked the licenses of three other physicians: Walter H. Jacobs, M.D., a family practitioner, Lance A. May, M.D., an emergency medicine physician, and Bruce Hunter, M.D., who has no listed specialty.
The doctors have a 35-day window to appeal.
The Board approved creation of a subcommittee for drafting a Substantive Policy Statement on Internet Prescribing. Board members agreed that there is misunderstanding and confusion about Internet prescribing among the general population. A Policy Statement would clarify what is and what is not allowed and inform citizens about the hazards of obtaining prescription drugs over the Internet.
