Ariz. - The Arizona Medical Board � meeting via telephone conference call � today summarily suspended the license of Howard Lee Mitchell III, M.D., a Mesa psychiatrist.
Board Members decided Dr. Mitchell represented an imminent threat to public health and safety due to records that indicate he over-prescribed controlled substances and failed to keep adequate patient records.
The Summary Suspension is effective immediately. The Board action automatically refers the case to the Office of Administrative Hearings which will hear the case on an expedited basis, generally within 60 days.
