Medical Board Suspends the Licenses of Two Physicians

Scottsdale, Ariz. - The Arizona Medical Board today (January 30, 2006) Summarily Suspended the licenses of two physicians because each represented an imminent threat to the public health and safety.

Meeting telephonically, Board members voted to summarily suspend the license of Bruce Hunter, M.D., for prescribing drugs over the Internet without first establishing a doctor-patient relationship. Dr. Hunter was still on probation for a disciplinary action in 2002.

And they summarily suspended the license of Stephen E. Flynn, M.D., for treating patients before examining them, for inadequate record keeping and for unsanitary conditions in his office. Dr. Flynn has been a licensed practitioner in Arizona for more than 45 years.

The cases of both physicians now go to the Office of Administrative Hearings for formal hearings, generally within 60 days. The cases will return to the Board for final action.
