BOARD HONORS RETIRING MEDICAL CONSULTANT

Scottsdale, Ariz. - The Arizona Medical Board presented a plaque to Rudolf Kirschner, M.D., in honor of his work as a medical consultant and his service as a former Board member. Dr. Kirschner was a medical consultant for nearly seven years until his unplanned retirement last month. Before that, he had been a member of the Medical Board.

Board Chairman Tim B. Hunter, M.D., noted that there was one interview they needed to do, and asked Dr. Kirschner to approach the Board. Dr. Hunter revealed a plaque that reads: “Presented to Rudolf Kirschner, M.D., by the Arizona Medical Board, June 8, 2005, in deep appreciation and recognition of your commitment to the citizens of Arizona and the medical community as a Board Member, September 1996 to December 1997, combined with your years of dedicated service as a medical consultant, September 1998 to May 2005.” It was signed by Dr. Hunter and Executive Director Timothy C. Miller. In presenting the plaque to Dr. Kirschner, Dr. Hunter said it was difficult using “Rudolf” when everyone knew him simply as “Rudy.”

Dr. Kirschner said his wife told him to, “Be honest, be brief and then be seated.” “To be honest,” he said, “I retired for health reasons.” “To be brief, I miss all your familiar faces. I sincerely appreciate it (the plaque). Now, as instructed, I will be seated.”

Dr. Kirschner received his medical degree from the University of Southwestern Medical School in Dallas in 1956, and has had a practice in Family Medicine in the Phoenix area.
