Amanda J. Diehl returned to the Arizona Medical Board in January 2005 to accept the position of Deputy Executive Director. Ms. Diehl had previously been the Board's Assistant Director of Licensing and Operations, until April 2004. For the last 12 years, Ms. Diehl has served the State of Arizona, mostly in management positions. Before joining the agency, Ms. Diehl worked for the Arizona Attorney General’s Office, in the Liability Management Section, as well as the Licensing and Enforcement Section.

Ms. Diehl holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from the University of Nottingham, England, a Master of Public Administration from Arizona State University, and is a Certified Public Manager.
